Church's Auxilary for Social Action (CASA)

1. Organizational Introduction
CASA, as the social action arm of the Protestant and Orthodox Churches in India, was born out of concern of plight of migrated people during the partition of India in 1947. Initiated as a relief organization, CASA today is working in 22 states of India for the overall development and empowerment of the poor and the marginalized by facilitating people centered and people owned development processes through a rights based approach. In addition, disaster response and management is an equally important area of CASA’s intervention.

2. Vision
CASA’s vision is inspired by the Christian faith and values. CASA visualizes a society in which peace, justice and equality prevail and communal harmony. CASA also envisages a society where the poor, women, the marginalized and the under privileged lead a quality life with dignity and have equal opportunity for their involvement in the development process which is value based and sustainable, and also an appropriate environment to develop their fullest potential.

3. Operational Area
In 22 states of India, focusing on the marginalized and the poor communities including tribals, Dalits, women and children.
